Touching Down with a Thud

January 28, 2007

So, the holiday is over …big sigh. It was too much fun camping by the ocean, reading, sleeping, playing board games, reading, canoeing, surfing, reading, eating, reading, cycling, reading…..
Check out the Harlequin 10,000 book challenge to see what I read.
But now I’m back home and the “to do” list grew while I was away. Copy edits for ‘A Woman To Belong To’ had dropped into the mail box along with seven books to read for the RITAs.
My other job kicks in tomorrow plus I have to write up a book idea and firm up the first idea I had before going away. My website needs updating so I must employ eldest son to do that.
So its back to real life but part of me is still holding onto those lovely afternoons lazing in the hammock.

A Complete Break

January 11, 2007

I’m heading to the beach for two weeks. I wish someone else could pack and organise it all but other than that I am really looking forward to lazing about reading, reading, reading, swimming, playing board games and reading as well as, did I mention, reading.

It will be a mammoth catchup on all the debut novels that have come out during the second half of 2006 as well as a reacquainting myself with some of my fave authors.

No power, not phones, no computer…Bliss.

Looking forward to seeing you in a couple of weeks with two great ideas for new books.

Cheers!

Going to France to Find a Man

January 8, 2007

It seems France is the place to find a man :-) I love the covers of my books but so far I am yet to get a man on my UK, Australian or US covers. BUT I have just found all three of my books released in France have men on the covers. http://tinyurl.com/y5fngo

I especially like this one. And even better, I am partnered up with fellow Aussie Medical writer Fiona McArthur. Two Fionas in one book…what more could you ask for :-)

Summer by the Sea

January 7, 2007

I live in an town that becomes a holiday destination in the summer. People from Melbourne descend upon us as they take their annual summer holiday at nearby beaches. I know to avoid town on a wet day as all the soggy campers have come in to shop or watch a movie and escape the rain:-) But tourism is an important part of our economy so we learn to live around it. And it has some advantages. Today we spent the morning wandering around mudflats with a marine biologist in one of Victoria’s 15 marine national parks. We found crabs and snails and sea worms, baby fish and even got to stroke a Banjo Shark. Too cool!

Spending summer days rambling along the rockpools is a very strong memory from my childhood. I love watching the boys getting such a kick out of finding anenmonies and crabs and all the wonders that live in sparkling rock pools. But we’re very cautious…nothing would ruin a holiday more than a sting by a
BlueRinged octopus.

Happy New Year!

January 1, 2007

It’s 2007 and we saw it in with a rousing game of Monopoly and much to the shock of the family I won! Wiped the board clean.:-)

I have started the New Year with a first! My First US release is available at eharlequin. That’s pretty exciting.

I hope the New Year starts off well for you.

I also have a new keyboard. One of those ergonomic ones and man, it is going to take me forever to get used to it. I have to S-L-O-W right down which is always a challenge. As well as mastering a new keyboard I have a January mission to reduce my tottering TBR pile. Right now I am enjoying Julie Cohen’s “Delicious.”

What are you reading?
