Over The Hump

November 23, 2007

flynn2.jpgYou may or may not have noticed that I haven’t blogged all that much about my current story. This has mostly been because I have been stressing a LOT about it. The idea seemed good but I couldn’t’start it. I never start books well but this one seemed particulary hard. This book has a big ’secret’ and I have never written a secret story before. You can’t reveal too much too soon and that has caused me a lot of angst. But I hit chapter seven last week and now this story is steaming ahead and I am really enjoying writing it.  Words are (for me) pouring out and I’ve started to sleep at night again rather than waking up at 4am in a hot sweat of panic.

So right now I am plunging Flynn, here, into his worst nightmare. It’s a tough job, but someone has to do it :-)

Scaring Myself

November 21, 2007

croc.jpgCrocodiles are protected in Australia and as a result there are quite a few of them up in Far North Queensland and the Northern Territory. I’m not scared of too many things but these prehistoric creatures give me the heebie-geebies.

When I am visiting these states I never want to swim in anything other than a pool. On my visit to the Tiwi Islands I was totally freaked when I saw a crocodile surfing in the ocean. Forget a stroll along a moonlit beach!

And when I think I am being ridiculous a quick google search reveals that perhaps I am not. On average four people a year die from crocodile attacks.

SO here I am writing a scene with a crocodile and I am freaking myself out completely. I had to turn the cover of this book over because those eyes are following me everywhere. I think I need to go and watch the Gilmore Girls and chill out before I write the rest of the scene.

Has anyone scared themselves writing something? I’d love to hear!

Another Opening, Another Show!

November 16, 2007

It’s THAT time of year! The end of year production time and this year I have two sons in two different shows. One boy is dancing across stage while the other is lurching from being a rocker to a punk with a bit of stand up comedy inbetween.

What does this mean to me? Well, it means lots of driving to rehearsals, scouring op-shops for outfits and now it’s performance week I’ve been costume mistress, makeup artist and queen of hair gel! They’re both having fun and I’m really thrilled they have the opportunity to perform.

It’s just a shame there is book due very, very soon!

A  Woman to Belong To is  out  at eharlequin Australia. If you can’t wait until December 15th to escape to the exotic East then buy in HERE

This book will be available in the US on December 1st and on shelf in Australia just in time for Christmas on December 15th.

I adored my holiday to Vietnam and I’m thrilled to have captured many of the wonderful places I visited  and used them in the book.  I’m just sad I  didn’t run into the gorgeous Tom on my travels :-)

The blurb on this book says…..

To Dr Tom Bracken, working in the Far East is about more than setting up a health care agency. He has come to cleanse his heart by dedicating himself to his patients. When Nurse Bec Monahan arrives on his doorstep, he thinks she’s just another nurse.

But something about her intrigues him. Gradually, as they work together, Tom realises that Bec holds the key to his guarded heart. Has he found a woman to belong to?

Well and Truly Launched!

official-photoblog.jpg

I’m chiming in late here but I wanted to tell you about the fabulous launch of Sizzle, Seduce and Simmer! About 100 women and a handful of brave and supportive blokes, gathered at Dymocks on Collins, for champagne, scrumptious food and great conversation.

New York Times (20 times) best selling author, Stephanie Laurens launched Sizzle, Seduce and Simmer and spoke of the warmth and friendship that underpinned this book. And you could feel the love (and the warmth…man it was hot in the shop) on the night.

Marion Lennox who not only created the book she also made sure we had pinnies, and Anne Gracie organized us with nametags and I heard a few people say how great it was to put a face to an author name!

Sixteen of the thirty authors managed to attend and it was a blast lining up and signing over 60 books! It was the biggest book signing I have ever been to! Prior to the event a few of us were in the bar at the hotel next door signing copies for each other and a man seeing all the activity and books being passed around bought one on the spot!He had no idea what the book was about but he wanted in on the excitement and fun :-)

rimg0008blog.jpgAfter the launch where I got to catch up with family and friends, we headed out to dinner and then some of us went to Madame Brussels for Pimms.

It was the best night and I came home exhausted but buzzing with the joy of it all.

To buy the book go here or track it down in your local book store. Sizzle, Seduce and Simmer by Mira books…out now just in time for Christmas!
