Catching up with Authors

October 30, 2008

I’m off to Adelaide this weekend to spend time with my extended family. I have a bevy of cousins and second cousins over there as well as my aunt and uncle.  As much fun as catching up with them all will be I also get to have breakfast with four Medical Romance authors who live in the city of churches.  Technically it is breakfast but as I have to leave home at 4.15am, a 9am brekkie will be more like lunch for me :-)

Anyway I’m really looking forward to catching up with Emily Forbes (two sisters who write together) and Lucy Clark (husband and wife writing team). I am not sure if it is something very south australian to write in pairs but I will ask while I’m there!

I’m looking for pictures of heroes and I stumbled across http://www.popculturebuzz.com and I thought it might make your Friday :-)   Enjoy!

And to quote the site……Ryan Reynolds has become quite the leading man in films like “Van Wilder”, “The Nines”, “Smokin’ Aces” and “Just Friends”. In 2008 we can look forward to “Adventureland”, “Fireflies in the Garden” and “Definitely, Maybe”.

OUT NOW IN AUSTRALIA and NEW ZEALAND

October 16, 2008

The Playboy Doctor’s Marriage Proposal is out on shelf now! in Australia and New Zealand:-) and that makes me really excited :-)

Set in Warragurra, and on a nearby outback station, this book tells Emily and Linton’s story. Take one country nurse with bright pink hair, raised with five brothers and who can shoot pool and hotwire cars. Put her on the same page as one urbane citified doctor who has never got his Italian leather shoes muddy, and watch the sparks fly.

“Moving, poignant, romantic and emotionally charged, The Playboy Doctor’s Marriage Proposal is the latest keeper by Fiona Lowe!”  Cata Romance

So if you’re looking for an escape from the busy-ness of term four then The Playboy Doctor’s Marriage Proposal might just be the thing you need. It’s out now at Kmart, Target, Big W, Borders Books and Angus and Robertson. Can’t get to the shops? No problem!  Buy it on line at Eharlequin and receive it in the post!

For pictures and to read an excerpt head to my website:-)

SOLD

October 15, 2008

I love that word:-)  I just got an email from my editor that she loves Nick and Kirby’s story and she’s buying it. YAY!! I love the sale feeling…the bubble of excitement, the thrill and relief that I nailed it, the fact I get to hold another book of mine in my hand next year. (Title and release date TBA…will keep you posted).

Writing a book is like climbing a mountain…you sell it and you’re high on the peak waving your arms in the air touching the stars.  Then you look up a bit further and see another enormous mountain and that is the next book you have to dream up and write.  But I’ll worry about that tomorrow because today is the day I sold my 11th book :-)

I Love Spring!

October 4, 2008

The last vestiges of winter have well and truly left my end of the world and spring is here in all her glory! The garden has kicked back in, the grass is green (and we enjoy that for a month before it burns brown), the roses are lush and green with tiny shoots -promises of perfumed glory in another month.  DH and I schlepped it down to the nursery last weekend to buy some drought resistent plants to plug a few difficult holes.

Everyone in the street is out in the garden and we’re chatting over the fence, strolling across the road and reacquainting ourselves as we dust off our winter cobwebs.  The kids are dreaming of the day when the sparkling pool water will be warm enough to swim and it really won’t be very long.

So I’m off with my trusty ‘water holding crystals’ to plant up a storm. What do you enjoy about spring?
