Quirky!

May 28, 2009

A week or so ago I blogged at Tote n Blogs and Love is The Best Medicine and I gave away two copies of The Surgeon’s Special Delivery to people who left a comment.  The winners were randomly selected from my ‘hat’ plucked out by my younger son with two other judges on hand (DH & DS1 ;-) )to make sure everything was above board. :-)

The remarkable thing was that both prize winners live on islands! Very different islands in different seas but I was really tickled about the connection of such random events. There is something very special about knowing that people from all around the world pick up my books and read them.

Life Imitating Art…or the other way around

May 24, 2009

In ‘The Surgeon’s Chosen Wife, (March 08) my Queensland book, I had a scene where the hardware store owner collapsed with a brain bleed. My reluctant hero who was recovering from a bad accident had to use a drill from the shop to save the shopkeeper’s life. There is a favourite line of mine where on the way out of the shop with the patient on a stretcher, the doctor calls out, ‘ get me a drill’ . A  customer replies, ‘fair go, Doc, finish your shopping later.’  Then all is explained how the drill will be used.

Last week my husband alerted me to an article in the paper. In a small town in Vicoria…in fact in the same town where all the Australian Harlequin editions are published, a boy who wasn’t wearing a helmet fell off his bike. The impact tore an artery and the boy bled into his brain.  The country GP saved his life with a drill from the hospital maintenance department.AU-9780733576751-0407

The First Review is in.

May 7, 2009

The first review for The Surgeon’s Special Delivery is in and I’m a happy camper!

“The Surgeon’s Special Delivery is poignant romance at its finest! Fiona Lowe always peppers her stories with searing emotion, enthralling romance, engrossing drama and interesting medical scenarios, so readers looking for a Medical Romance that will keep them entertained will not be disappointed with her latest tale of new beginnings, redemption and second chances. Moving, enjoyable and wonderfully told, The Surgeon’s Special Delivery is another Fiona Lowe novel that is heading straight for my keeper shelf!”

Life’s been a bit crazy and I’m way behind but come join me today at The Pink Heart Society where I’m talking about James Marsden…ideal hero material! I think he would make the perfect Callum in my current UK release, The Surgeon’s Surprise Family  At the start of the book Callum wasn’t smiling quite like James but by the time Tess had woven her magic, he most certainly was!
