The Thrill of a Great Review

September 3, 2008

The Playboy Doctor’s Marriage Proposal is out in the UK and I just received two reviews…one on CataRomance and the other on The Pink Heart Society and…they loved it! PHEW!  Putting your book out there for public comment is never easy and especially this book which has a rocky write. The middle of the year is always tough for me as a holiday and then the conference pull me out of the book.

CataRomance writes: “Written with plenty of heart and sensitivity, and imbued with lots of irresistible charm and exuberance, The Playboy Doctor’s Marriage Proposal is the latest keeper by a writer who is set to follow in the footsteps of Australian superstars such as Marion Lennox and Robyn Donald: Fiona Lowe!”  How cool is that! To be compared with two such great writers, I tell you I am dancing on air. Read more here

I have a soft spot for this story so I am really excited that these two review sites gave it a such great wrap, I hope you enjoy The Playboy Doctor’s Marriage Proposal too!

Out of the Cave

I’ve spent a lovely week out of the writing cave. It was supposed to be my week off writing but somehow a short story snuck in and just had to be written:-)I caught up with friends who probably thought I had moved interstate due to the lack of seeing me, I have almost tidied my desk, helped fellow Harlequin Author Carol Marinelli with some planning for the Pink Breakfast Breast cancer fund raiser that will be held in August, done my tax, booked a weekend away in May and supervised at the school’s cross country. AndI also had a massage but before you say ‘ooh lucky thing’, I think I hurt more now than I did before!massage.jpg

Hoping in another day I will be all loose and comfortable. Now I am off for a haircut :-)

But work starts again on Monday….Linton and Emily’s story also set in Warragurra!

Reviews

March 23, 2007

Reviews…love them, hate them, they come with the territory of writing. Reading is a subjective thing, our personal tastes come into play big time when we read, see a movie, listen to music.

The Surgeon’s Chosen Wife has been reviewed and here is what was said at  The Pink Heart Society ….

The Surgeon’s Chosen Wife – Fiona Lowe

Line: Mills and Boon Medical Romance
Release month: March 2007 UK, Mid April Australia and NZ
Review:

In her latest Medical Romance, Fiona Lowe sweeps her readers off to the beautiful town of Yakkabura in Queensland in this emotional tale which will tug at your heartstrings and bring a tear to your eye!

GP Sarah Rigby is busy looking after her Sam and working every hour God sends at her health clinic – she’s certainly got no time from romance – so why is she so intrigued by the sudden reappearance of Ryan Harrison? As teenagers they had shared a passionate kiss but he’d left town and she’d never seen him again – and now he’s back recovering from an accident and trying to sell his childhood home to finance his life back in Melbourne.

Despite the fact that a lot of time has passed since that brief kiss, Sarah is still attracted to Ryan, but with a young child to look after, a busy professional life and Ryan’s apathy towards Yakkabura, she knows that a future with him is out of question.

But as fate throws Ryan and Sarah into close proximity, Ryan begins to realise that Yakkabura does have its attractions and that Sarah is the first woman who’s ever captured his heart and made him feel alive. But will Ryan be able to resist the lure of Melbourne or will he realise that home is where the heart is?

Fiona Lowe just keeps getting better and better. Her books resonate with her readers because they are about real people with real problems, but they still have got that touch of romantic fantasy which make them simply irresistible. Fiona Lowe is a writer I know I can always rely on to deliver the goods and in The Surgeon’s Chosen Wife she certainly delivers! A touching story about getting a second chance at love and life, her storytelling prowess will hold you spellbound and her characters leap off the pages and come alive instantly.

The Surgeon’s Chosen Wife is the perfect novel to lose yourself into and one which you can’t afford to miss!
