Ha Long Bay

Ever since watching the movie INDOCHINE, I have wanted to go to Ha Long Bay. Legend has it that a dragon carved it all with his tail. Amazing grey limstone karsts rise out of emerald green water. Huge cavernous caves are everywhere and have been used as refrigerators, army training bases and temples. Kubla Khan was defeated here when his army tried to invade Vietnam.

Today it is a UNESCO world heritage area and best appreciated from a ‘Junk.’ We ate more seafood than was decent, we swam and explored lagoons and generally relaxed. Bliss
