With Head of the River (rowing competition), the Apollo Bay Music Festival and Easter, we’ve been away three weekends in a row and my head is spinning. It’s all been great fun but sometimes you have to stay home to catch up.
I loved the Music Festival. I actually sat still for a whole weekend! I didn’t do any writing, I didn’t even read my manuscript although I did jot down a quick scene while listening to some fabulous music. Lyrics can be a great inspiration for story-writing. Like the funny song where a guy and his girlfriend are stuck in the elevator so she decides that is a good time and place to confess to having slept with his best friend. You can just feel his desperate need to get OUT of the lift but he can’t and the elevator music just keeps on playing!
Faves from the festival were Chris Smither, Eddi Reader, Paul Greene, Rant, Bob Brozeman, Four Play (ever seen a cello played like a guitar?), Josh White Jnr, The Wolfgramm Sisters…Oh, OK, it was almost ALL wonderful 🙂 The other special thing was that although at times we scattered to different events there were many times when the boys were with us and as a family we were sitting together listening to music. That was pretty special to me.
