  1. while its great to have a day were people are reminded to do something nice for the person they love – its nicer when they do something “just because” – it has more meaning that doing it just because its expected of them

  2. The good thing about being single on Valentines Day is that it’s a good excuse to buy myself something nice! Which usually means a book 🙂

Happy to get the newsletter, Fiona 🙂

  3. Ohh pink is my fab colour !! the ice tray is very sweet !! lol.. Love the cover of Boomerang bride !!!

After many years of being together I must say valenteines day has become just another one of those days.. As much as I wished he would at least pull over and grab me that bunch of flowers lol.. It just comes and go’s ..

So as Juilet said above.. If I feel llike Im needing something special I treat myself to something small even if its a book or a coffee lol..

🙂 thanks for the wonderful giveaway !

  4. I’ve only ever received flowers once on Valentines day and I had to whinge to get them, mind you pulling over on the side of the road and picking a couple of daisys was not exactly what I had hoped for……

  5. Fabulous stuff, Ladies. Bec, I agree. Often designated days can be fraught with unmet expectations.

Juliet, a personal treat… I like the way you think!

Carol, again, designated days can be fraught. HUGS

Katrina, DH and I have been together for *cough* years and once we did the full catastrophe Valentine’s day just for fun. Dinner, chocolates, champers, lingerie, the works and it was fun but being presented with a cup of tea on the couch after a crappy day is better!

Please tell your friends about the competition!

  6. Hi Fiona,

My DH is not at all romantic but he makes up for it by being a great cook. (Which is just as well, because I burn water!) He does surprise me occasionally though …

Happy to be on your mailing list and loving that Boomerang Bride is available in print.

Off to spread the word …

  7. Fiona, I love Valentines day! In life thre’s never enough romance and good thoughts. In fnland the day isn’t only for lovers, but also to embrace and cherish friendship. Friends send cards to each other and remember one another.
    Please send me newsletters!

  8. Juanita, a good cook in a man is a blessing. Mine BBQ’s well but the other sort of cooking, not so much. He has other good points though…he can iron to beat the band!

  9. Hi Fiona
I hate having to REMIND my husband that it’s Valentines Day. But I have to remind him of pretty much everything!
Don’t worry about putting me in the draw, as I was lucky enough to win your book last year (still on TBR pile, sorry to say) but I’d love to go on the mailing list.

  10. Hi, Fiona. An age ago, I remember the excitement of Valentine’s Day when my two older sisters received fancy, unsigned cards. The mystique of having an unknown admirer really captivated my imagination. Big sigh! What a shame it’s all about commercialism now instead of good old fashioned romance.
But not everything has changed-thank goodness for Mills and Boon!
Yes please, I’d love to be on your newsletter mailing list. m

  11. Love Valentine’s Day for the sheer romance of it all, I love it happening all around me. Particularly love reading about it in a lovely romance. 🙂 Can put it down with a sigh and a smile (and sometimes wish it was me….)…

  12. thanks for making this international Fiona!
my fav part are chocolates too!! i love tehm,,,and of course be with the person that you love
    thanks!

  13. The best thing about Valentine’s day is that although hubby thinks it is only for the card industry, he takes the time to purchase our daughter and I flowers every year!

  14. thanks so much! I’m a little sad this year, as I’m alone, but I’ìll eat Nutella! And yes, sign me up for the newsletter!

  15. Thank you for the great giveaway! Your book looks so good! That tray is cute too! Ive never been a big fan of valentines. To me its kinda a waste. Couples have there anniversaries, valentines is just a day that the government can make money off the public. It shows how some couples are to poor to afford the holiday, it makes loney people sad because they have know one to celebrate it with, it hurts widows, knowing they have to deal with the there anniversay, there significant others birthday and the day they passed, valentines is another month they dread thinking about the loved one they lost. Valentines is just another day for me, its not special and has no value. Im glad others find joy in it and thats wonderful but im just not one of them. Thanks! And will you please add me to your newsletter? Thank you!

  16. Shadow, in Australia, Valentine’s Day has only become popular in the last decade. Like all holidays, I think the important thing is to do what you belive in. Love is in the little, thoughful things that go on every day when couples take the time to consider each other.
    Thanks for entering the draw!

    • Huh, i didnt know that. I believe like you. Just cherish what you have and the little things. A kiss, a hug, sweet words, being held, watching a movie on the couch… My family doesnt really celebrate holidays. For christmas, we dont do gifts. We watch movies, and cook dinner together. Its nice. Holidays now a days are to much about money. Isnt it enough having your loved ones, special someone with you. Seeing them everyday, sharing memories and just enjoying each other? When did money start equaling love? Lots of couples break up because the money ran out. Its sad.

    • Oh, Sara! Perhaps he thinks you’re using code and no means yes. My mother thought I loved dark dark chocolate but no matter how many times i said i didn’t like it, I still got it. One year I bit the bulllet and handed it back saying, ‘thank you so much but this is your favourite chocolate, not mine.’ She looked rather surprised and said, ‘oh well I’ll enjoy it’ and now she gives me MY favourite.

  17. I love being able to give my girls a little thing and my husband. We don’t go all out but just a little thing to say we love each other. I love giving some candy and card really. My girls and hubby love it! I have to go get that soon. It’s almost here.

Thanks for the super great giveaway. I could so use an ice cube tray believe it or not.

  18. Some of my favorite things about the holiday are the decorations (love hearts, red, etc) and chocolate.
Thank you for the great giveaway. That ice cube tray is so cute!

  19. You had me at ‘totally cool, pink heart-shaped, silicone ice-block tray’. I always was an easy Valentine 🙂
    Thanks for the giveaway.

  20. Thank you so very much! 🙂 I don’t usually celebrate V-day but since my boyfriend and I have been dating 2 1/2 years now I figured that we should actually do something this year. So we’re exchanging presents and all that jazz this year. Looking forward to it! 🙂

  21. I am allergic to flowers. So none for me. I do like jewelry for Valentine’s Day. My hubby usually obliges.

  22. I love the LOVE. I love that Valentine’s Day is just a little jolt to a relationship. It does not have to be lavish, just a reminder to appreciate what or who you have got.

  23. I am not celebrating Valentine’s day this year because there is no one special in my life. I feel I would be a burden to one because I am a bladder cancer patient so I have just not really looked to meet my Mr. Special right now in my life. Please add me to your mailing list. Thank; you for this awesome giveaway.
    🙂 Jeanne, jeannebates_t@yahoo.com

  24. Thank you for the giveaway. I don’t have any plans other than to babysit my grandkids so my daughter and son-in-law can go celebrate the day. That’s fine with me. They are great kids, a handful, but great. I think I already get your newsletter but just in case I don’t, sign me up.

  25. I love holidays in general so Valentine’s Day fits right in with that and having something fun to do and a reason to celebrate!

What I hate is being single and the fact that it’s solely focused on couples. If I’m not in a relationship during the “big” day I usually take that day for myself to do some pampering and whatever else I feel like to treat and relax myself!

  26. Since my birthday and mothers day got missed or quickly passed over last year I am not counting on Valentines Day. Whilst I love the idea because I am a soft romantic at heart I would appreciate little things through out the year which shows how much hubby cares. A bunch of flowers, a back massage, a little love note, a bottle of champagne – anything to say I know you and love you and thought you would enjoy this.

One of the nicest things I have seen is sending beautiful letters/cards to friends on Valentines’ Day to show how important they are. As usual thought I leave everything until the last minute when I have these great ideas and don’t like doing things less than brilliantly.

I hope everyone has a really nice day and feels loved in some way.

I would love to go on your newsletter list 🙂

  27. I’m not the biggest fan of Valentine’s Day, because I think it just sets you up to be disappointed. But, I love getting flowers and it is nice to know there’s one day I’ll definitely get them.
